Kerikeri Culinary Champs NSSCC 2022

Congratulations to all the 2022 NSSCC competitors, judges and organisers for a nail-biting competition with some of the highest competition standards we have seen. Taking out the win was Kerikeri High School team representing North Auckland and Northland- Kiera Match and Savanna Munro.

Their qualifying dish was both delicious and beautiful, abundantly featuring this year's featured vegetable - beetroot. Beetroot Curry and Beetroot/Pear Chutney wrapped in pickled beetroot, golden beetroot and miso pureé, beetroot cured kingfish, horseradish and basil got them into the finals.

Alongside Taumarunui High School, Hawera High School, Mountainview High School, Otago Boys High School, Wellington College, Botany Downs Secondary College and St Johns College, the finalists from around New Zealand were evenly matched to deliver delicious and beautiful dishes.

The competition was tough, but Kerikeri High presented absolute deliciousness with their Waitoa chicken breast, aromatic curry paste, baby onions, carrots, herbs, pickled kumara, coconut sauce and curry oil . Kiera Match and Savanna Munro and their team manager Stacey Sturges pictured below.
