The Culinary Arts Development Trust has confirmed the National Secondary Schools Culinary Challenge is back for 2022. This annual cooking competition is designed to promote the next generation of culinary talent, provide career pathways for students and foster relationships between secondary schools and the hospitality industry.

This year the Regional Competition will be held online with the teams competing for a place at the National Grand Final- scheduled to be a live cook-off in Auckland (Covid-permitting)!. Each team will be made up of two students and the dish- an entreé- MUST INCLUDE New Zealand grown beetroot as the primary ingredient. A protein and other vegetables can also be included but beetroot must be the hero of the dish. The closing date for regional entries is Friday 8th July and more information including the rules, criteria and even a helpful webinar for teachers can be found here on the NSCCC website.

Southern Hospitality is proud to be a sponsor of this event investing in the future of New Zealand hospitality. As a Kiwi owned and operated business, we fully understand the industry and hope events like this help to grow the local hospitality crew.

Wishing all of the participants the very best of luck, be sure to enter online!
